HERMON – Morita’s School of Dance in Hermon was selected to represent Maine at Dance Excellence in Los Angeles, Calif., recently. Only one school from each state is chosen to attend along with dancers from Australia, Canada and Gibraltar also attended.

Ten dancers from Morita’s School of Dance and Morgan Hill Performing Arts performed at Disneyland, attended classes conducted by world-famous dance teachers and competed in the Performance Boards. The dancers received two Superior and two Outstanding Awards.

Denise Knowles of Levant was chosen to join The Young Americans troupe.

Thirty-four dancers from Morita’s School of Dance attended the Dance Educators of America competition and workshop held in Portland. They received one bronze, eight silver and two gold awards. They also received five high-point trophies in their division.

Denise Knowles received a ballet scholarship to attend a Dance Educators of America summer intensive workshop.
