ORONO – People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals are offering a $2,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for sexually assaulting a female horse at the University of Maine’s research farm on the evening of May 27. This is in addition to the $1,000 reward already offered by the University of Maine department of public safety.
The incident may be linked to a similar assault against a mare last August.
Anyone with information about this case is encouraged to contact university investigator Chris Gardner at 581-4040.
