BANGOR – A squirrel tangled with a power line early Friday morning, shutting down power for about 5,000 Bangor Hydro-Electric customers in the city.
The power went out at 5:11 a.m. and was restored for most customers within a half hour, although some customers didn’t have power until 7:11 a.m., reported LuAnn Williams, communications director for Bangor Hydro-Electric.
The squirrel touched a transformer in the Hammond and Fourteenth Street area, killing the animal and shorting out that transformer and others.
