PITTSFIELD, Mass. – Rick Guttormston of Berkshire held the Bangor Lumberjacks to four hits and one run through eight innings to lift the Black Bears to a 2-1 Northeast League win Monday night.
Guttormston, now 3-3, allowed only one walk and struck out seven before Matt Bailie came on to record his fourth save in the ninth despite giving up three singles and a walk.
Bangor’s Juan Silvestre grounded out to third with the bases loaded to end the game.
The Lumberjacks scored their run in the second on a sacrifice fly by Silvestre.
Manny Crespo drove in Berkshire’s two runs in the sixth while Bangor’s Danny Miller slipped to 1-4.
