I read the June 18 story about the stump on Route 1. Rockwood has a stump, too.

I live on Route 15, a direct road to Jackman and Canada, where logging trucks go roaring back and forth all hours of the day and night. The road is quiet when the trucks have passed. Since this is a resort area, there is also a lot of traffic during the holiday season.

I haven’t heard of any incidents, though, in which our stump has been involved. Mostly, our collisions are with moose and deer, ducks and geese, occasional potholes, and other cars.

I hope no decision will ever be made to remove it. There may be other people walking my walk who will see it and like it as much as I do.
