Scrumptious singalong

Looking for fine dining with a bit of live entertainment? You can join in at the Blue Sage Bistro, located on Route 102 in the Bar Harbor village of Town Hill. On Friday, June 27, Lee Patterson will lead an old-fashioned sing-along in the bistro’s deceptively spacious dining room. On July 26, George Swanson’s singalong will focus on old-time Americana, blues and cowboy-style music. The restaurant serves dinner from 5:30 to 9 p.m., and the singalongs start at 7 p.m. To make a reservation, call 288-5222.

Wine not?

If you feel a little intimidated by all the wine choices out there, you’re not alone. Chef Tom Gutow and sommelier Victor Van Keuren of the Castine Inn will hold an intensive wine training class for restaurateurs and retailers from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday, June 29, at the inn. The event will include a tasting of four wines with foods to demonstrate pairing, as well as a discussion of how wines are made, the economics of wine sales, wine service, dessert wines and storage. The class costs $20 per person and reservations are recommended. For more information, call 326-4365.

Spectacular seafood

The National Association of the Specialty Food Trade has named Stonington Sea Products’ Smoked Mussels Salsa and Smoked Atlantic Salmon as finalists in the trade group’s annual product awards competition. Finalists will be judged this week in Manhattan by a panel of specialty food retailers. Stonington Sea Products uses centuries-old Scottish cures and slow-smoking techniques to allow the oil in the fish to rise and enhance the natural flavor of the seafood.
