DOVER-FOXCROFT – The Southern Piscataquis County Chamber of Commerce will sponsor a chili cook-off as part of the second annual Piscataquis Heritage Festival on Sept. 27 and 28, at the Piscataquis Valley Fairgrounds.

The heritage festival will feature the Maine State Barbecue Championship Contest on Sept. 27, an event sanctioned by the Kansas City Barbecue Society. The winning team will be declared the Maine champion and will compete in the national finals in Kansas City.

The public will have an opportunity to show off their cooking skills on Sept. 28 by taking part in a barbecue sauce contest, a grilling contest and the chili cook-off.
