Withee, Penquis knock off Lincoln

DOVER-FOXCROFT – Josh Withee took a no-hitter into the sixth and gave up just two hits overall as Penquis shut down Lincoln 11-3 Thursday in American Legion action.

Withee struck out four and walked one. Ross Morrison hit three singles and drove in two runs. James Gray hit a two-run double. Jason Weymouth doubled, singled and drove in a run.

Matt Leino’s RBI double in the sixth broke up the no-hitter.

At Calais, Scott McDonald scattered five runs and six hits over seven innings with eight strikeouts as the Suns rolled.

Ben Maloney singled twice and doubled for Calais. Joe Footer knocked three singles and Darrin Constant two. Ben Dow added a double and a single.

Blaine Meehan and John Higgins had two singles apiece for the Riverdogs.

At Ellsworth, Mark Clapp smacked an RBI triple and added a single as the Acadians rolled.

Nick Henry and Tony Conroy each chipped in with two singles and an RBI for Trenton. Garrett Hardison singled twice.

Bo Thomas hit an RBI single for Orono and Jeff Miller hit two singles.

At Brewer, the Falcons pounded out 20 hits en route to the win.

Jake Knight and Nye Gifford each went 4-for-4 with four singles and Knight added three RBIs. Kevin McAvoy drove in two runs on a triple and a single. Kyle Dalton had three RBIs on a triple and a double, Zack Bouzan-Kaloustian doubled, singled and drove in a run, and Jason Harvey added an RBI double.

Matt Day led the Shiretowners with two singles and an RBI. Jordan Hill singled twice.

At Mansfield Stadium in Bangor, the Comrades scored all 10 runs in the fifth, five unearned, for their third win.

Alex Means hit a two-run single in the fifth, Brian Worster slammed an RBI triple and Tyler Jellison and Nick Larochelle each added an RBI double. Jordan Heath chipped in with an RBI single.

Ken Spaulding singled twice for Waldo and drove in a run. Dennis Potvin added a two-run double and Nick Arthers and John Potvin each singled twice.
