PRESQUE ISLE – Police have connected two early-morning burglaries Friday to a series of similar incidents going back to November.
An automatic alarm alerted police to a possible burglary in progress at 3:53 a.m. Friday at Hogan Tire on Rice Street, Det. Wayne Selfridge said Saturday afternoon.
Officers arrived at the scene and found a broken window. Nothing was reported missing from the business, Selfridge said.
Later that morning a burglary was reported at Aroostook Auto Detailing, located next door to Hogan Tire. A broken window also was discovered at that scene and nothing was reported missing.
“We must have scared them off when we responded to the call at Hogan Tire,” Selfridge said.
Similar incidents occurred at Hogan Tire three weeks ago, Selfridge said, when a person or people gained entry by breaking a door, but nothing was taken.
Last November and twice this month, Cowett’s Auto Repair and Warehouse on Davis Street has been burglarized, with a combined $400 in cash taken, Selfridge said.
The detective said police are treating the incidents as connected cases and the investigation continues.
