Thomas lifts Orono-Old Town past Houlton

OLD TOWN – Bo Thomas hit a solo home run in the second inning and added a pair of doubles to drive in three runs and lead Orono-Old Town to a 14-2 win over Houlton in the first game of an American Legion baseball doubleheader Saturday.

The O-OT Twins beat the Shiretowners in the second game 21-6.

In the first game, Chris Rand allowed only one hit, one earned run, and four walks while striking out six for the Twins. Rand also hit a pair of singles with two RBIs. Andy Pease had two doubles with an RBI as Cory Estes and Brad Goody each singled to drive in two runs.

Chris Parsons singled for Houlton.

In the second game, Ryan Brown tripled, doubled and singled and drove in three runs and Rand doubled three times and had an RBI for Orono-Old Town. Jeff Miller doubled and singled and had three RBIs and Goody doubled and singled twice and had an RBI.

Parsons hit three singles with two RBIs for Houlton and R.J. Gagnon had a trio of singles to drive in a run.

Penquis, Hampden split

At Hampden, Jason Gray hit three singles and drove in two runs to lead Penquis to the 17-4 win in the first game on Saturday, Hampden took the second game 6-5.

In the First Game, Josh Watson doubled and singled for Penquis and Josh Withee had two singles.

Billy Bart, Chris Pease, and John Higgins all singled for Hampden.

In the Second Game, Ian Lee had three singles, an RBI, and stole two bases for the Riverdogs. Jason Huntley had two singles and Bill Shannon hit a RBI single in the sixth inning.

Josh Withee had a triple and a single for the Navigators. Adam Russell doubled and single with an RBI and Joey Kane hit a pair of singles.

At Hampden, Eric Libby tripled in the tenth inning and was forced in when Chris Pease was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded to give Hampden the win in 10 innings on Sunday.

Ian Lee hit a two-run home run in the fifth inning for the Riverdogs. Libby hit a pair of singles and Mike Brown had two singles with a RBI.

Brian Hackett had two doubles with two RBIs for Bangor. Josh Young doubled and singled and drove in a run and Brian Worster had two singles.

Lincoln, Bangor split

At Bangor, Jeremy Ham held Bangor scoreless with only three hits and three walks and striking out seven in Lincoln’s 5-0 second game win on Saturday. Bangor won the first game 3-1.

In the first game, Brian Hackett doubled and singled for the Comrades. Josh Young hit a RBI single in the third inning and Jessefa Murphy knocked in a run on a fielder’s choice.

Scott Flannery hit a double and a single with a RBI for the Loggers.

In the second game, Tom Lasko hit a solo home run in the second inning for Lincoln. Scott Flannery had two singles with two RBIs and Jason Murchison hit a pair of singles.

Peter Nelson, Alex Means, and Brian Worster all singled for Bangor.

Trenton sweeps Waldo

At Searsport, Arshwin Asjes gave up only one run on three hits and one walk while striking out 14 to lead Trenton to the 5-1 win in the first game over Waldo. The Acadians also took the first game 8-1.

In the first game, Travis Tripp gave up one run on four hits and no walks while striking out nine for Trenton. Garrett Hardison hit a double and two singles and Mark Clapp also had a double and two singles with one RBI.

Tom Dennen hit a pair of singles for the Wildcats.

In the second game, Asjes hit a double and two singles and scored a run for Trenton.

Nick Arthurs, Tom Dennen, and Willy Creighton each singled for Waldo.

Lincoln 17, Houlton 2

At Houlton, Tommy Lasko went 4-for-4 with a walk as Lincoln handled Houlton 17-2 in Zone 1 play Sunday.

Lincoln broke a 1-1 tie with five runs in the top of the third inning, and added five more in the fourth.

Scott Flannery added a triple and double to Lincoln’s 17-hit attack, while Nate Cousineau also had two hits.

Chris Parsons and Chad Lavway each singled twice for Houlton.
