BREWER – Pitcher Andy Wentworth gave up only two hits, four walks and struck out six to lead the Brewer Falcons to a 9-0 win and a doubleheader sweep over the Calais Suns in American Legion baseball action Saturday.

The Falcons won the first game 14-1.

In the first game, Shawn Sutherland hit a three-run homer in the fourth inning to lead the Brewer offense.

Zach Bouzan-Kaloustian added a triple and two singles with a RBI and Jason Harvey hit a two-run double for Brewer. Kyle Dalton had two singles with two RBIs and Pat Moran had a pair of singles with a RBI.

Ben Maloney doubled for Calais.

In the second game, Kevin McAvoy hit a triple and three singles with a RBI for Brewer and Zach Bouzan-Kaloustian tripled and singled with a RBI. Joe Robichaud had a two-run triple and Jason Harvey hit a RBI triple.

James Ramsdell and Derek Maloney each singled for Calais.

Orono-OT sweeps Houlton

At Old Town, Bo Thomas hit a solo home run in the second inning and a pair of doubles to drive in three runs and lead Orono-Old Town to the 14-2 win in the first game on Saturday. They also won the second game 21-6.

In the first game, Chris Rand allowed only one hit, one earned run, and four walks while striking out six for the Twins. Rand also hit a pair of singles with two RBIs. Andy Pease had two doubles with an RBI as Cory Estes and Brad Goody each singled to drive in two runs.

Chris Parsons singled for Houlton.

In the second game, Ryan Brown tripled, doubled and singled and drove in three runs and Rand doubled three times and had an RBI for Orono-Old Town. Jeff Miller doubled and singled and had three RBIs and Goody doubled and singled twice and had an RBI.

Parsons hit three singles with two RBIs for Houlton and R.J. Gagnon had a trio of singles to drive in a run.

Penquis, Hampden split

At Hampden, Jason Gray hit three singles and drove in two runs to lead Penquis to the 17-4 win in the first game on Saturday, Hampden took the second game 6-5.

In the First Game, Josh Watson doubled and singled for Penquis and Josh Withee had two singles.

Billy Bart, Chris Pease, and John Higgins all singled for Hampden.

In the Second Game, Ian Lee had three singles, an RBI, and stole two bases for the Riverdogs. Jason Huntley had two singles and Bill Shannon hit a RBI single in the sixth inning.

Josh Withee had a triple and a single for the Navigators. Adam Russell doubled and single with an RBI and Joey Kane hit a pair of singles.

At Hampden, Eric Libby tripled in the tenth inning and was forced in when Chris Pease was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded to give Hampden the win in 10 innings on Sunday.

Ian Lee hit a two-run home run in the fifth inning for the Riverdogs. Libby hit a pair of singles and Mike Brown had two singles with a RBI.

Brian Hackett had two doubles with two RBIs for Bangor. Josh Young doubled and singled and drove in a run and Brian Worster had two singles.

Lincoln, Bangor split

At Bangor, Jeremy Ham held Bangor scoreless with only three hits and three walks and striking out seven in Lincoln’s 5-0 second game win on Saturday. Bangor won the first game 3-1.

In the first game, Brian Hackett doubled and singled for the Comrades. Josh Young hit a RBI single in the third inning and Jessefa Murphy knocked in a run on a fielder’s choice.

Scott Flannery hit a double and a single with a RBI for the Loggers.

In the second game, Tom Lasko hit a solo home run in the second inning for Lincoln. Scott Flannery had two singles with two RBIs and Jason Murchison hit a pair of singles.

Peter Nelson, Alex Means, and Brian Worster all singled for Bangor.

At Houlton, Tommy Lasko went 4-for-4 with a walk as Lincoln handled Houlton 17-2 in Zone 1 play Sunday.

Lincoln broke a 1-1 tie with five runs in the top of the third inning, and added five more in the fourth.

Scott Flannery added a triple and double to Lincoln’s 17-hit attack, while Nate Cousineau also had two hits.

Chris Parsons and Chad Lavway each singled twice for Houlton.
