Three Bangor men chased and held a woman accused of stealing change from a car Sunday night.

Bangor police Officer Brandon Vafiades said he went to a Deer Isle Road address at about 9:50 p.m. A man there said he had noticed his car’s dome light on, and when he investigated, discovered a woman rifling through his things. When he yelled at her, the man told Vafiades, the woman ran away. The man said about $7 in change was taken.

At about 10:15 p.m., Vafiades was called to a fight in progress on Blue Hill East avenue, he said, and found the complainant there with two friends restraining a woman matching the description of the car burglar. Vafiades said he arrested Rebecca Barnett, 25, and that he had found her shirt pocket full of change.

The complainant said he had gone driving to find Barnett, when his girlfriend called him on his cell phone saying Barnett was in their back yard. The man returned with his friends and chased Barnett, catching and holding her until Vafiades arrived.

Two Bangor police officers grounded a fleeing truck burglary suspect early Monday.

At about 2:40 a.m., Officers Brad Hanson and Wade Betters were sent to Grove Street for a report of three people burglarizing vehicles.

Hanson said Betters was approaching the scene on foot as Hanson drove toward Mount Hope Avenue, when Betters radioed that a truck was rolling down the street. Hanson pulled up behind the truck, and a man got out and ran away.

Hanson chased the man, later identified as Detric Stanley, 19, who refused to stop until he encountered a backyard fence. Hanson said Stanley then turned and put up his fists. Hanson pinned Stanley to the fence until Betters arrived a few seconds later and helped put Stanley face down on the ground, according to the police report. Betters said he had to sit on Stanley’s legs and hold his right arm, while Hanson controlled Stanley’s left arm and put handcuffs on him.

Hanson said the truck’s owner was notified. Four rifles were in the truck, which had been left unlocked with the keys inside. A CD case was the only item missing from the truck, Hanson said.

Stanley was charged with burglary of a motor vehicle. Hanson said that at Penobscot County Jail he noticed Stanley’s nose was bloody from the struggle.

A utility trailer was reported missing from a Hampden marina Monday afternoon.

Hampden police Sgt. Scott Webber said the black Park brand trailer was reported missing at around 12:30 p.m. from Turtle Head Marina on Main Road North. Webber said the last verifiable sighting of the trailer was 30 days ago. The case is inactive due to lack of leads.

A Hampden man was arrested for violation of a protection order Monday, two weeks after being charged with assaulting his wife.

Hampden police Officer Joel Small said Michael Pelkey, 43, had bail conditions not to contact his wife or be on her property.

Pelkey’s wife told police Monday that he had been in her trailer without permission. Witnesses confirmed this, saying he had been around the property more than once in the past week.

Small said Pelkey was arrested at a neighbor’s house.
