Dr. Gabriela Cherascu, an adult and geriatric psychiatrist, has joined the medical staff at Northern Maine Medical Center in Fort Kent.

Cherascu spent the last two years at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City, concentrating in geriatric psychiatry. She is completing the final practicum of her geriatric psychiatric fellowship with Dr. Simona Suchan, NMMC psychiatrist.

Cherascu began her residency training in psychiatry at Upstate Medical University, Syracuse, N.Y., where she also was a clinical assistant instructor in health sciences.
