PORTLAND – Maine ski areas recorded a 5 percent increase in skier days for the 2002-03 season, placing this winter as the fourth-best season on record.

A skier-snowboarder visit is defined as one person visiting a ski area for all or part of one day.

The 1,296,910 skier days this season exceeded Maine’s five-year skier-day average of 1,262,498.
