Single in sixth lifts Acadians by Calais stars 10-9

BAR HARBOR – Chase Bickford singled up the middle in the bottom of the sixth inning to score Duncan Smith and give the Acadians a 10-9 win over Calais in Little League all-star baseball action for ages 9-10 Thursday.

Bickford also hit a two-run homer in the fifth inning for the Acadians. Charlie Pal tripled and singled.

Cam Shorey hit a double and single for Calais and Stephen Smith doubled and drove in two runs.

Bucksport One 12, Coastal 0

At Brooklin, Evan Eldridge hit a two-run home run in the first inning to help Bucksport One advance.

Zachary Hall added a two-run double for Bucksport.

Josh Gale and Nick Kane each doubled for Coastal.

Machias 14, Ellsworth3

At Ellsworth, Jacob Scoville hit two singles as Machias topped Ellsworth.

Machias scored four runs in the top of the first inning to take the lead for good. The game was halted after five innings by the 10-run rule.

Toby Wood pitched a six-hitter for the victory.

Seth Cote and Brian Twitchell each doubled for Ellsworth.

Sunrise 11, Bucksport Two 5

At Bucksport, Curtis Worcester allowed only two hits and struck out 10 to give Sunrise the win.

Josh Ring hit a triple and a single for Sunrise and Nathan Dublin had a pair of singles with a RBI. Ryan Hatt had a two-run single and Tyler Dunbar and Worcester each added a single and RBI.

Cody Miller hit a RBI single for Bucksport Two and Joe Goodin singled.

Millinocket 9, Hampden 2

At 13th Street Field in Bangor, Brandon Bouchard gave up only six hits and two walks while striking out 14 to lead Millinocket past Hampden.

Aaron Cyr hit a pair of singles and knocked in two runs for Millinocket and Bouchard added two singles.

Mark Eldridge hit a RBI single in the fourth inning for Hampden.

Acadians 5, Calais 4

At Bar Harbor, Calvin Tweedie hit a three-run home run in the bottom of the sixth inning to tie the game at four and Nick Sosa singled up the middle to score Dustin Passatore in the 12th to give the Acadians the win.

Tweedie and Dustin Passatore combined to strike out 20 batters for the Acadians. Nolan Hall, Willy Clark, and Passatore each singled.

Zack Newman tripled for Calais. Jordan Leeman and Donald Mull both had a double and Roman Hall and Cal Shorey each hit an RBI single.

Ellsworth 30, Machias 14

At Ellsworth, Shaye Domagala singled twice as Ellsworth rolled to the win.

Machias took a 7-0 lead in the top of the first inning, but Ellsworth countered with six runs in the bottom of the first and eight more runs in the second inning for a 14-7 lead. The game was halted after four innings by the 10-run rule.

Paige Martin earned the pitching victory.
