Maine’s Catholic diocese announces reassignments for 2003

The first of July traditionally marks the transition point for Roman Catholic priests who are being reassigned. Following is a list of 2003 reassignments. It was released by Bishop Joseph Gerry of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Portland, which comprises the entire state.

The Rev. James Albert, pastor, St. Mary’s in Eagle Lake, to be pastor, St. Thomas Parish, Madawaska.

The Rev. Robert Vaillancourt, pastor, St. Thomas Parish, Madawaska, to be pastor, St. Matthew Parish, Hampden, and St. Gabriel Parish, Winterport.

The Rev. Jean-Paul Labrie, pastor, St. Matthew Parish, Hampden, and St. Gabriel Parish, Winterport, to be pastor, Holy Rosary Parish, Caribou, St. Denis Parish, Fort Fairfield, and St. Louis Parish, Limestone.

The Rev. Arthur Pechillo, parochial vicar, Holy Rosary Parish, Caribou, to be pastor, Our Lady of Good Hope Parish, Camden.

The Rev. Alfred Irving, administrator, Holy Rosary Parish, Caribou, St. Denis Parish, Fort Fairfield, and St. Louis Parish, Limestone, to be administrator, St. Mary, Presque Isle, and St. Joseph Parish, Mars Hill.

The Rev. Thomas Lequin, pastor, St. Mary Parish, Presque Isle, and St. Joseph Parish, Mars Hill, to be pastor of St. Mary Parish, Bangor.

The Rev. Frank Murray, pastor, St. Mary Parish, Bangor, to be pastor of Sacred Heart, St. Louis and St. Philip parishes, Auburn. He also will be vocations director for the diocese and chaplain at Bates College.

The Rev. Gerald Levesque, pastor, Sacred Heart, St. Louis, and St. Philip Parishes, Auburn, to be pastor, St. Catherine of Siena, Norway, and Mission of Our Lady of the Snows, Bethel.

The Rev. Fred Morse, pastor, Sacred Heart-St. Dominic Parish, Portland, and St. Christopher Parish, Peaks Island, to be chaplain, Maine Medical Center in Portland and remain pastor of St. Christopher Parish, Peaks Island.

The Rev. Thomas Murphy, chaplain at Maine Medical Center, to be pastor, St. Patrick Parish, Portland.

The Rev. Coleman O’Toole, pastor, St. Patrick Parish, Portland, to be pastor, St. Margaret Parish, Old Orchard Beach.

The Rev. Normand Carpentier, pastor, St. Margaret Parish, Old Orchard Beach, to be pastor, Our Lady of Perpetual Help, Windham.

Deacon Dean Lachance, parish coordinator, Our Lady of Good Hope, Camden, to be parish coordinator, St. Andrew Parish, Augusta.

The Rev. Paul LaBree, first assignment as parochial vicar, Holy Cross Parish, Lewiston, and assistant to the Rev. Frank Murray in the diocesan vocations office; will serve as chaplain to the Youth Ministry Advisory Board and as chaplain at St. Dominic’s High School, Auburn.

The Rev. Dave Raymond, first assignment as parochial vicar, Holy Rosary Parish, Caribou, St. Denis Parish, Fort Fairfield, and St. Louis Parish, Limestone.

The Rev. Thomas Farley, parochial vicar, St. Louis, St. Philip and Sacred Heart parishes, Auburn, to be pastor, St. Patrick Parish, Lewiston.

The Rev. Roland Nadeau, parochial vicar, St. Patrick and Sts. Peter and Paul’s Parishes, Lewiston, will be chaplain for Mercy Hospital in Portland.

Patricia Phillips, parish coordinator, St. Joseph Parish, Gardiner, to be parish coordinator, Sacred Heart Parish, Lubec, and St. Timothy Parish, Campobello. She also will assist with pastoral ministry at the University of Maine at Machias, Down East Community Hospital, the Washington County Jail and the state prison at Bucks Harbor.

The Rev. Eugene Gaffey, pastor, Our Lady of Good Hope Parish, Camden, to be pastor, St. Joseph Parish, Eastport, and the Mission of St. John the Evangelist, Pembroke. He also will serve as sacramental minister to St. Ann Parish, Perry.
