BREWER – Josh Young fired a four-hitter, striking out eight and walking two, as Bangor dealt Brewer its first loss of the season, 3-1, in American Legion baseball action Monday night at Heddericg Field.
Alex Means hit a two-run single after Jessefa Murphy had singled in the first run in a three-run first inning rally that gave Young the only runs he was to need.
Brian Hackett had a first-inning single and P.J. Dowe’s second-inning double was Bangor’s final hit off Andy Wentworth and Andy Patterson.
Kyle Dalton tripled and scored in the seventh on Kevin McAvoy’s fielder’s choice. McAvoy had singled earlier in the game.
J.T. Davis and Adam Sheehan had the only other hits off Young, both singles.

At Old Town, Nick Henry hit a solo home run in the fourth inning to help Trenton beat Orono-Old Town.
Adam Cousins added a double and a single with two RBIs for Trenton and Mark Clapp doubled twice.
Ryan Levesque hit a three-run homer in the first inning for Orono-Old Town and Dusty Thomas added a two-run home run in the seventh. Jeff Miller had three singles and a double.

At Millinocket, Tom Lasko single twice and drove in a run as the Lumber prevailed.
Scott Flannery doubled, singled and plated a run for Lincoln and Ryan Bouchard added two singles.
Ian Lee ripped a double, single and knocked in a run for the Riverdogs and Keith Brooks had two singles.

At Dover-Foxcroft, lefty Jason Weymouth threw a four-hitter, striking out nine and walking one, and he scored the game-winning run on James Gray’s two-out, two-run double in the fifth inning.
Two walks and a double steal set the stage for Gray’s opposite-field double to right.
Josh Withee had a double for Penquis.
Matt Day had two singles and drove in the only run for Post 47 from Aroostook County and New Brunswick. Chad Lavway pitched well in defeat, scattering six hits with six strikeouts and six walks.

At Mansfield Stadium in Bangor, Nick Arthers notched three singles, drove in two runs and earned a save to give Waldo the victory.
Jamie Potvin chipped in with two doubles for the winners, Jesse Johnson added two singles and an RBI and Marcus Quesinberry had a single and two RBIs.
Steve Colbeth cranked a two-run home run for Calais in the seventh inning. He also singled twice as did Joe Footer and Scott Macdonald.
