State police investigate Eddington home invasion

Maine State Police are investigating a break-in that took place in Eddington Monday night.

Trooper Josh D’Angelo could not release names Tuesday night, but said there was a home invasion at a Route 9 residence sometime before midnight Monday.

A number of area police agencies were notified of the incident and asked to watch for a van with Massachusetts plates.

Brewer police Sgt. Jason Moffitt said he and other officers spent about five hours in the woods near Camden Court in Brewer looking for the occupants of an abandoned car. Moffitt said it is possible the occupants were involved in the Eddington break-in. He said the officers found their night-vision equipment very helpful in the search.

An Orono man allegedly attacked his ex-girlfriend after she refused to have sex with him Monday afternoon in Bangor.

Bangor police Officer Myron Warner said he went to a Bald Mountain Drive address at about 6:10 p.m. to speak with a woman who said she was assaulted.

The woman told Warner that Nigel Hall, 21, had come over at about 5:30 p.m. to see their son. She said Hall was in a good mood at first, then grabbed at her and suggested that they have sex. The woman said she told Hall she wasn’t interested in him anymore, at which point he began yelling and calling her vulgar names.

Warner said the woman told him Hall knocked their son over, grabbed her arm and threw her against a door, then started choking her. The woman said Hall let go and left, kicking the storm door on the way out, making a 6-foot-high dent.

Warner said the woman told him Hall had assaulted her a few times in the past.

Warner told the woman later that Orono police had arrested Hall, and that Ron Sagner, his probation officer, had put him on probation hold.

A pizza delivery driver was assaulted in Bangor Monday night.

Bangor police Officer David Bushey said he went to Domino’s Pizza on Clinton Street at about 10 p.m. to speak with a driver who said he was attacked while out on delivery to a Cedar Street apartment.

Bushey said the man told him he had gone to the apartment at about 9:45 p.m. On his way back to the car, he found a man leaning on his car, apparently intoxicated.

The driver told Bushey the man verbally abused him, asking him what he was doing at his house and whom he worked for.

The man then punched the car roof and hood. Bushey said he saw the dents, apparently made by a ring. The driver told Bushey that he said he didn’t want a fight, and was leaving, when the man shoved him, put him in a headlock, and pulled him to the ground.

The driver said he got away from his assailant, got into the car and drove away without stopping to shut his door.

Bushey said he and Officer Kevin MacLaren went to the apartment building and asked around, but were unable to find a man matching the description of the attacker.

A Bangor man received two identical summonses from the same officer Monday.

Bangor police Officer Chris Blanchard said he was on Hammond Street at 10:45 a.m. when he noticed a vehicle ahead of him with registration stickers expired in November. The Bureau of Motor Vehicles confirmed that the registration had expired, and Blanchard summoned the driver, Alexander Mackenzie, 39, for having a registration expired over 150 days.

Blanchard said he saw the same vehicle on Ohio Street at 1:40 p.m. He summoned Mackenzie again for the same offense and had the vehicle towed by Union Street Citgo.
