I am outraged that Monsanto has sued Oakhurst Dairy over their label and advertising. This is a clear case of intimidation to get what a multinational corporation wants. Maine’s attorney general was right not to bow to the pressure from Monsanto earlier this year.
If the judge in Boston has any backbone he or she will throw this case out on summary judgment because this is a clear case of freedom of speech. I urge all residents of Maine to boycott Monsanto goods whenever they can. I also urge them to write letters of support to Oakhurst Dairy; this is clearly a case of David vs. Goliath.
Oakhurst is the last instate independent dairy in the lower two-thirds of Maine. What will happen if they are forced out of business?
