HOULTON – The Maine Department of Labor has been awarded a $301,876 National Emergency Grant to served dislocated workers in Aroostook County.

The grant is expected to help 49 out of a total of 152 workers laid off from Houlton International, Maine Brand Manufacturing, J. Paul Levesque & Sons, and Bangor and Aroostook Railroad.

The grant provides dislocated workers with immediate recruitment, outreach, job assessment, job search assistance, basic skills training and classroom training.

The award was announced Thursday by U.S. Rep. Michael Michaud.
