Hilts, Hines, Henry help Coastal take two in Senior tourney

BLUE HILL – Host Coastal remained the only unbeaten team in the double-elimination District 1 Senior League baseball tournament Sunday as Daniel Hilts pitched a three-hitter with 16 strikeouts in a 6-0 victory over Bucksport.

Harrison Hines hit a two-run single in the first inning to give Hilts all the offensive support he needed.

Colin Henry added two singles for Coastal, while Blake Wessel and Adam Cousins each doubled.

At Blue Hill, Joe Robichaud and Forest Wardwell each had four hits as Bucksport outscored the Acadians 19-4 in an elimination game of the District 1 Senior League tourney Sunday.

The game was halted after five innings by the 10-run rule.

Both Robichaud and Wardwell had two singles, a double and a triple. Teammate Peter Wentworth singled twice.

Nye Gifford scattered seven hits to earn the pitching victory.

Marcus Mafucci tripled and Kyle Shea doubled for the Acadians.

At Blue Hill, Jake Willis pitched a one-hitter with nine strikeouts as the Acadians eliminated Ellsworth from the District 1 Senior League tourney Sunday.

Marcus Mafucci hit three singles for the Acadians, while Andy Pooler doubled and singled, Sam Burne singled twice and Willie Romano doubled.

Corey Smith doubled for Ellsworth.

At Blue Hill, Adam Cousins pitched a complete-game two-hitter with nine strikeouts as Coastal topped the Acadians 3-0 Saturday.

Acadians pitcher Andy Pooler hurled a three-hitter with nine strikeouts.

Colin Henry doubled and scored the game’s first run in the fourth inning. Coastal added two runs in the sixth on an RBI single by Harrison Hines and a sacrifice fly by Jared Grindle.

At Blue Hill, Rob Pushard, Louden Jellison and Corey Davis each singled twice to lead Bucksport past Ellsworth 8-5 Saturday.

Joe Robichaud scattered seven hits to earn the pitching win.

Nye Gifford added a double for Bucksport, while Corey Smith and Matt Homich each singled twice for Ellsworth.

At Mansfield Stadium in Bangor, Chris Pease pitched a complete game giving up only three runs on four hits and five walks while striking out 12 to help Hampden past Lincoln.

Bill Shannon hit a three-run double in the fifth inning for Hampden. Jason Huntley doubled and singled as Ian Lee and Mike Brown each had two singles.

Jason Murchison had a RBI double for Lincoln.

At Bangor, Andrew Patterson scattered eight hits in a complete-game pitching effort as Orono-Veazie remained unbeaten in District 3 Senior League play with a 9-5 win over Bangor on Sunday.

Patterson struck out six and walked one to earn the win.

Orono-Veazie took the lead for good with three runs in the bottom of the fifth. Jeff Green hit a leadoff dobule and scored on Brian Roach’s single. Andrew Olis and Roach also scored in the inning.

Roach finished with a double and three singles. Keith Clifford led Bangor with a triple, single and two RBIs, while Ben Silver singled twice.

At Mansfield Stadium in Bangor Saturday, Derek Libby scored the game-winning run on a Josh Murchison’s RBI fielder’s choice to give Lincoln the win.

Jake Smith doubled and singled to drive in two runs for Lincoln and Josh Murchison had two singles with a RBI.

Taylor Tremble, Mike Kotredes, Tyler Coombs, and Josh Kitchen each singled for Brewer.

At Mansfield Stadium in Bangor Sunday, Bob Seger hit a RBI single in the sixth inning to break the 6-6 tie and give Hampden the win.

Bob Seger hit three singles with four RBIs for Hampden and Ethan Chase had two doubles and a single with two RBIs.

Brad Brown tripled for Glenburn.

At Mansfield Stadium in Bangor Sunday, Justin Morin pitched a shutout by giving up six hits and one walk while striking out eight to lead Old Town to the win.

Jaret Lukas hit three singles for Old Town and Nathan Emerson and Lloyd Bryant each doubled.

Jacob Silver and Kyle Gallant both had two singles for Bangor.

At Mansfield in Bangor Saturday, Mike Kotredes hit a two-run double in the top of the fourth inning to spark a six-run rally that snapped a 4-4 tie.

Prentiss Swett pitched an eight-hitter with five strikeouts for Brewer.

Marc Relford led Brewer’s 12-hit attack with four singles, while Kotredes had two singles and four RBIs and Swett had two singles and four RBIs.

Phil Richardson led Hermon with three singles, while Zack Deabay doubled and singled.

At Mansfield Stadium in Bangor Saturday, Holbrook scored seven unearned runs in the seventh inning to break a 6-6 tie.

The winners had only two hits in the decisive rally, RBI singles by Tommy Jackson and Chris Smith.

Ricky Adams pitched 2 2/3 innings of shutout relief to earn the win.

Jackson and Smith each finished with two singles and two RBIs, while Danny Wheeler also singled twice.

Max Winter led Orono-Veazie with two singles.

Nick Hubbard chipped in with a double, single and three RBIs to back winning pitcher Nick Swanson, who scattered four hits while giving up only one walk. Swanson aided his own cause with an RBI single and Ben Clark added a double and two RBIs.

Colin Ciomei had an RBI single for Coastal.

At Calais, Roman Hall hit a double and two singles to drive in two runs to lead Calais.

Jordan Leeman had a pair of singles for Calais. Timmy Reed and Melvin Waycott combined to strike out 11 batters.

Dustin Presabin hit a doubled and two singles for Acadia and Dylan Passature doubled and singled.

At Old Town, Lacey Littlefield gave up only one run on five hits and one walk while striking out 12 to help lead Hampden to the win.

Taylor Lauritsen hit a RBI single for Bangor and Amy Hackett singled and scored a run.

Devin Levesque and Amanda Heath both singled with a RBI for Old Town.

At Machias, Christina Ramsdell rapped four singles as Machias eliminated Ellsworth.

Kala Conley and Tiffany Preston each added three singles for Machias. Katie Ackley scattered seven hits and got a key strikeout in the bottom of the sixth to end Ellsworth’s rally.

Ashley Smith led Ellsworth with three singles and an inside-the-park home run. Rosie Vachon added a double.

McKayla Hussey singled for Old Town.

Brooke Kimball doubled for Lincoln as Jennifer Rider and Taylor Hawkins each had a pair of singles.
