A 39-year-old Bangor man was arrested Saturday after allegedly threatening to burn down a house on Third Street, according to police reports.
Leonard Parla was arrested on a bail violation charge after seeking a woman at the Third Street residence. The Third Street resident and the woman told police Parla had a baseball bat and threatened to burn down the house before leaving the building.
Bangor police Officer Brad Johnston determined Parla was prohibited from having contact with the woman under the bail terms of a previous charge.

A Bangor man was summoned on two charges Saturday evening following an incident in which an erratic driver reportedly forced a motorcycle off the road and was speeding in the old Capehart area of Bangor, according to police reports.
Police responded to the scene and summoned Vernus Mayhew, 22, of Bangor on charges of operating after suspension and for improper plates. Mayhew’s two-toned blue Ford Taurus, which was darker on the bottom, matched the description of the vehicle reported in the old Capehart area.
According to Officer Larry Morrill, Mayhew and one of his passengers said they had just arrived in the area from Glenburn. Mayhew told police that his license was suspended, that his vehicle was not registered, and that he had put a license plate on the car for the trip to a Capehart store.

A Bangor man was summoned Sunday morning on charges of improper plates and for receiving stolen property. The plates belonged to a Bangor woman who had reported them stolen.
Randy Vargas, a resident at the Penobscot Job Corps Center on Union Street in Bangor, was parked in a car at the Hannaford supermarket on Union Street.
According to reports, Vargas told Bangor police Officer Michael Brennan that he had borrowed the vehicle’s license plates from a friend’s mother while waiting for the motor vehicle registration to be processed in Connecticut, where he had sent the title and the bill of sale.
