CALAIS – Someone made off with one of the city’s 16-foot skiffs, and officials said Monday they want it back.
Last week volunteers went to Bar Harbor to pick up the two skiffs, which were donated by Capt. Stephen Pagels.
The boats, which were no longer seaworthy, were to be used as planters to help spiff up the city.
On Thursday, one skiff was placed on a vacant lot on Main Street, the other on the corner of North and South streets. It was the second one that was missing Friday.
City officials ask that anyone with information about the skiff contact Calais police.
