Bangor beats Lincoln for District 3 title

OLD TOWN – Bangor launched a four-run rally in the bottom of the sixth inning en route to a 10-9 victory over Lincoln for the District 3 Little League softball title for ages 11-2 Tuesday.

Melinda Bonney led Bangor off with a game-tying RBI in the sixth while Mariah Cassum had a double, two singles and three RBIs. Erin Dean hit two singles with an RBI while Lindsey Stevenson added a double, a single and an RBI.

Megan Markie led the Lincoln effort with two singles and three RBIs and Renee Libby had two singles and two RBIs. Katie Smith contributed with an RBI and two singles.

Acadian 7, Sunrise 4

At Bar Harbor, Charlie Pal hit a two-run triple and aided her own cause by striking out seven batters to help lead Acadian to the victory.

Chase Bickford hit a solo home run while Duncan Smith contributed with two singles for the winners.

Cameron Tucker hit a triple for Sunrise of Washingon County while Ryan Hatt and Tyler Dunbar each helped out with a single.

Katahdin 13, Bangor West 0

At Bangor, Josh Guiggey had two doubles, a single and two RBIs and pitched a one-hit shutout, allowing only one walk and striking out seven as Katahdin Valley eliminated Bangor West.

Dillan Boulier sent home three runners on a triple and a double and Ethan Qualey hit a double and a single for one RBI. Andy Kay helped out with two singles and two RBIs.

Nate Frazier had a single for Bangor West’s lone hit.

Calais 18, Machias 7

At Machias, Hillary Hollingdale scattered 11 hits, striking out six and walking one, and she aided her own cause with an inside-the-park homer, two doubles and a single as Calais captured the District 1 championship.

Hollingdale had a two-run double in the seven-run first inning that gave Calais the lead for good.

Rebecca Redding had four singles for the winners and Brianna Black chipped in with three singles.

Tiffany Preston had a double and two singles and knocked in two runs for Machias, Christina Ramsdell had three singles and Katie Ackley doubled and singled and drove in two runs.
