Johnson powers Waldo to win Penquis, Brewer post victories

HAMPDEN – Jesse Johnson hit a home run, a double and a triple for two RBIs to lead Waldo to a 14-5 American Legion baseball victory over Hampden Tuesday.

Johnson also got the win as he struck out five batters.

Ken Spaulding had two singles and two RBIs while Nick Arthers added three singles. Devin Potvin hit two singles and Nate Clark had a double and scored two runs. Willy Crichton chipped in with a two-run single.

Chris Pease hit a home run and a single for Hampden while Kevin Brooks contributed with two singles. Billy Shannon helped out with a triple.

At Dover-Foxcroft, Eric Day’s RBI single in the fifth inning helped the Navigators edge the Acadians.

Jason Weymouth rapped an RBI double and Ross Morrison had an RBI single to back James Gray, who scattered five hits.

Seth Mayo singled twice to lead Trenton. Nick Henry provided a run-scoring single.

Brewer 15, Orono-Old Town 2

At Old Town, Adam Sheehan’s two-run single and Jason Harvey’s RBI double keyed a four-run first inning that sent Brewer on its way to the triumph.

Winning pitcher Sheehan, Chad Gomm and Pat Moran combined on a seven-hitter, striking out four and walking two.

Sheehan, Gomm, Zak Bouzan-Kaloustian and Jake Knight had two singles apiece for the Falcons while Andy Patterson contributed a two-run double and Kyle Mercer and Corey Cushing joined Harvey with RBI doubles.

George Keefe and Mike Violette singled twice for Orono-Old Town and Ryan Thibodeau hit an RBI double.
