Two were arrested Tuesday evening on drug charges and outstanding warrants in Brewer.

Brewer police Officer John Knapp said he, Officer Tony Pinette and Sgt. Jason Moffitt went to a Silk Street address at about 7 p.m. where it was reported that a woman was using drugs. Knapp said Amanda Geiger, 18, and her boyfriend Benjamin Fuchs, 24, both had outstanding arrest warrants connected with a major theft case in Portland.

Knapp said the officers found Fuchs inside the apartment and arrested him. He refused to tell the officers where Geiger was, but they found her hiding on the second-story balcony. Knapp said a search of the immediate area produced hypodermic needles and burnt spoons, presumably used to take drugs.

A blank check from a New Hampshire business, with a stamped signature, also was found on Fuchs’ person. Knapp said the check was one of a few checks reported stolen from that business.

Geiger and Fuchs were arrested on their warrants and also charged with possession of drug paraphernalia. Fuchs also was charged with possession of stolen property.

A Winterport man was arrested at the Bangor Mall Wednesday while trying to spend time with his daughter.

Bangor police Officer Jason McAmbley said he and Officer Tyler Leighton went to the mall at about half past noon, for a report of a violation of conditional release.

McAmbley said they spoke with a woman who said Michael Donovan, 29, the father of her daughter, had approached her car and opened the door and then went inside the mall with their child. Donovan is subject to release conditions that prohibit him from any contact with the complainant, McAmbley said.

The officers found Donovan inside the mall, carrying his daughter. McAmbley said he told Donovan to put the child down and speak with him outside. When Donovan argued that he had a court order permitting him to visit his child and was doing nothing wrong, McAmbley again asked to speak with him outside.

McAmbley said Donovan swore and yelled at him. McAmbley gripped Donovan’s arm while the complainant took the child from him, McAmbley said. When Donovan resisted, McAmbley handcuffed him, and raised his arms behind him to stop his yelling.

In the cruiser, McAmbley said, Donovan argued the conditions of release should not apply anymore because the complainant had changed her name. McAmbley said Donovan told him he would contact his lawyer.

Donovan was taken to Penobscot County Jail and charged with violation of conditional release.

A Brewer resident chased a burglar into the waiting arms of the law Tuesday night.

Brewer police Officer Jeff Gotreau said an Oak Grove resident woke up just before midnight to the sound of a car door chime. The woman woke her husband, and they watched a man running from a car across the street to their yard, where he tried to get into the couple’s car.

Gotreau said the resident sneaked out the back door and called 911. The man saw the suspect in the bushes, who started to run away. The man was chasing the suspect and yelling for him to stop when Gotreau arrived.

Gotreau arrested the suspect, Jeremy Kochis, 20, of Brewer, for criminal trespass.

A Bangor woman lost control of her vehicle early Tuesday morning while driving drunk, according to police.

Bangor police Officer Brad Hanson said Rebecca Clough, 20, was driving her 1988 BMW south on Broadway, at high speed, when the car veered onto the right shoulder. She lost control of the car in the dirt, spun 180 degrees, regained the roadway facing northward, rolled over twice and ended up in a field on the other side.

Hanson summoned Clough for operating under the influence. Her blood alcohol content was 0.16 percent.
