BANGOR – Joel Neill tripled and singled Wednesday as Hampden tipped Old Town 5-3 to advance to Friday’s District 3 Junior League baseball championship game at Mansfield Stadium.

Bobby Seger singled twice and drove in a run for Hampden. Tyler Miles struck out six and walked two in a complete-game win.

Matt Willey paced Old Town with two singles and an RBI. Tyler Honey singled twice.

At Brewer, Evan McCarthy hit a two-run single in the top of the third inning Wednesday night to give Katahdin the edge it needed to defeat Brewer 3-2 in District 3 Little League ages 11-12 all-star baseball action.

The two teams will play again today for the District 3 championship.

Andy Kay pitched a four-hitter and helped his own cause with a single. Dillian Beaulieu doubled while Josh Guiggey and Ethan Qualey added a single each.

Billy Bissell led the Brewer offensive effort with a double and a solo home run in the sixth. Chase Daniels doubled while Andy Bush chipped in with a single.

Bangor 24, Glenburn 1

At Bangor’s Mansfield Stadium, Kyle Gallant and Alex Gallant combined on a two-hitter, striking out 11 and walking one over five innings, as Bangor eliminated Glenburn.

Kyle Gallant and Troy Jellison sparked Bangor’s 13-hit attack with three singles and three runs batted in apiece; Jacob Silver contributed two singles and two RBIs and Alex Gallant hit an inside-the-park homer.

Steve Applebee and Brad Bown singled for Glenburn’s only hits.
