Al Merrill, considered a major force in American skiing through his work at Dartmouth College in Hanover, N.H., is one of 10 members of the inaugural class that will be inducted into the Maine Ski Hall of Fame.
The induction ceremony will be held Friday, Oct. 24, at the Lost Valley Ski Area in Auburn.
Known as the “Silver Fox,” Merrill was Dartmouth’s ski coach and director of outdoor affairs for nearly 30 years. He also worked at eight Winter Olympics and designed numerous ski trails across the country.
Merrill previously was inducted into the National Ski Hall of Fame.
