NORTH ANDOVER – Former UMaine women’s basketball player Kathy Karlsson has been promoted to associated head coach with the Merrimack College women’s basketball team, head coach Ann McInerney announced Wednesday.

Karlsson, a 1991 UMaine graduate, recently finished her fourth season at Merrimack as the top assistant and recruiting coordinator. Her responsibilities include overall skill development, practice organization, team travel and academic advising.

Last season the team compiled a 21-9 record and advanced to the NCAA Div. II playoffs for the first time in school history.
