Holbrook wins District 3 title Schultz single lifts 9-10 stars

BANGOR – Peter Schultz’s RBI single in the bottom of the seventh inning drove home Ray Bessette with the winning run Thursday afternoon as Holbrook edged Old Town 10-9 in the District 3 ages 9-10 Little League baseball all-star championship game.

Ryan Adams had two doubles, a single and two RBIs for Holbrook, while Keith Nelson had a double, two singles and one RBI and Ryan Oxley tripled, doubled and drove in four runs.

Tyler Murphy had a triple, single and three RBIs for Old Town, while Brandon Cyr and Casey Estes each singled twice.

Sunrise 3, Coastal 1

At Milbridge, Blake Chase allowed only one run, striking out 10 batters and walking none, to help lead Sunrise to victory over Coastal in the District 1 ages 11 and 12 championship game.

Josh Beal hit a two-run double in the bottom of the third to help give Sunrise the edge it needed while Sam Stewart added an RBI double. Matt Beal chipped in with a double while Brian Hayward singled.

Nate Hines drove in Coastal’s run on a single while Casey Hull hit a single and scored the run. Alex Sullivan and Nick Saunders contributed a single apiece.

Bucksport 17, Acadian 2

At Bucksport, Evan Eldridge knocked in eight runs with three doubles and pitched a two-hit, two-run game with six strikeouts to help lead Bucksport to the win and the District 1, 9 and 10 year-old championship.

Ryan Bailey had two singles and two RBIs while Cody Farrell hit a three-run single. Cody Davis, Billy Beredin, Tim Nason and Zach Hall added an RBI single apiece.

Gordon Fault hit an RBI single for Acadian while Eli Sevigny had an RBI and Duncan Smith chipped in with a single.

At Frankfort, Nathan Adams hit two doubles and a single and pitched a four-hit shutout, striking out 15 batters and waling only one, to help shut down the Camden-Rockport offense in an ages 11-12 contest.

Ethan McHatten and Matt Abbott each had two singles and an RBI for Waldo while Matt Bagley chipped in with an RBI double.

Kevin Richards, Adrian Morgan, Gordon Fisher and Gabriel Blodgett hit a single apiece for Camden-Rockport.

Bangor 12, Hampden 1

At Old Town, Emily Heath rapped three singles and knocked in two runs as Bangor rolled.

Stacy Gomm tripled in a run for the winners, and Amy Hackett had two singles with an RBI.

Amanda Palmer singled twice and Ashley Gott doubled and scored for Hampden.

At Bangor, Neil Russell smacked a two-run single in the third to break a 6-6 deadlock and propel Bangor to victory.

Alex Gallant slammed a solo homer to go with a single. Russell finished with two singles and three RBIs, and Kyle Vanidestine doubled, singled and plated a run.

Justin Morin had two singles and an RBI for Old Town. Nathan Emerson singled twice and knocked in a pair and Sean Babin notched three singles.

At Bangor, Tyson Barron scattered four hits over five innings to earn the pitching win as Bangor downed Hampden in District 3 Senior League baseball action.

Ryan Toomey hit an RBI double to highlight a four-run Bangor uprising in the third inning that gave the winners a 7-0 lead.
