Bangor woman faces drug charges Police smell burning marijuana, recover paraphernalia while searching van

A Bangor woman was summoned on drug charges early Sunday morning after she allowed Bangor police to search the van she was in.

Bangor police Officers Brandon Vafiades and Shawn Green were responding to a report of a loud party at 3:45 a.m. Sunday when they found Donna Decesere, 23, and four other people sitting in a parked van.

Vafiades said that when they approached the van they smelled burning marijuana and asked the five occupants to get out of the van.

Decesere explained that the van belonged to a friend and gave officers permission to do a search. Under the rearmost seat officers found a purse containing two hypodermic needles, two spoons with white residue on them and a small, brass-colored scale. An address book in the purse identified its owner as Decesere.

Decesere said she used the items to inject opiates such as OxyContin and other pills, but not heroin. She also said she was clean and no longer used the items.

Decesere was summoned for sale and use of drug paraphernalia. A court date is set for Aug. 25, 2003.

The owner of Union Street Laundromat reported a burglary Sunday morning.

Joe Savoy, 42, reported that the storage shed on his property had been broken into during the night. He told police that when he left around 8 p.m. Saturday the shed was fine. When he arrived at 7:30 a.m. the next day, he discovered that the padlock had been cut off the shed.

Savoy reported that a Makita Impact wrench worth $150 was missing, along with three cases of Tide laundry detergent valued at $150 and power tool attachments worth $500.

Bangor police Officer Brandon Vafiades investigated the scene and noticed tire tracks leading to the shed that match those of a full-size pickup truck.

Savoy said he would review his security camera tape to see whether the truck was visible. No charges were filed.
