University of Maine soccer player Linda Consolante of Beaconsfield, Quebec, played in Team Canada’s 2-1 victory over Brazil Sunday, her first-ever international game.
Consolante entered the game at Frank Clair Stadium in Ottawa in the 64th minute, playing 26 minutes at the defender position. It is the first appearance of a UMaine women’s soccer player in World Cup play.
Consolante was named the America East Defender of the Year last fall.
