DEER ISLE – A New Jersey woman has been charged with drunken driving after her car went off Route 15, according to police.

Lilly Flanagan, 22, of Bradley Beach, N.J., was driving a 1991 Honda north on the state road around 5 p.m. Friday when she lost control of the car, according to Hancock County Sheriff’s Deputy Loren Clarke.

The car went across the southbound lane of traffic, hit a rock wall and a well house and came to a rest in a ditch, Lt. Patrick Kane of the Hancock County Sheriff’s Department said Monday.

Flanagan was arrested on a charge of operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of intoxicants, according to Clarke.

Flanagan was not injured in the wreck, but it’s unknown whether she was wearing a seat belt, Kane said.

The Honda had an estimated $3,500 in damage.
