Bus route improvements
BANGOR – The final report for the route redesign for the Bangor Area Comprehensive Transportation System, a study conducted by Tom Crikelair Associates of Bar Harbor, will be presented at 2 p.m. Wednesday, July 30, at Bangor’s Downtown Parking Garage bus shelter. Discussion will cover highlights of the study and possible service and route changes.
A second meeting will be held at 7:30 p.m. the same day on the third floor council chambers at Bangor City Hall to review the study’s findings in more detail.
Recommendations include dividing the Mount Hope route into two more efficient parts; shortening the Center Street route and adding a new route linking the Airport Mall, Broadway Shopping Center and the Bangor Mall. There also will be discussion over adding middle-of-the-day service to the Hampden route.
Glenburn field hockey
GLENBURN – The Glenburn Recreation Department is looking for a volunteer field hockey coach for middle school girls.
The program is due to start Aug. 18, and finish up the first week in October. Practice times are flexible. For information, call 945-3119.
Field hockey registration and a meeting for girls in grades six to eight has been set for 6 p.m. Aug. 18, at the Glenburn Recreation fields. The fee is $20. Players provide shin guards, mouth guards and sticks.
