The Training Wheels of Lamoine will ride the Multiple Sclerosis 150 Bike to the Breakwater on Saturday, Aug. 2, and Sunday, Aug. 3, a fund-raiser based at St. Joseph College in Standish.
Riders Kari Graceland and Robin Kauffman, along with 14-year-olds Cody Spruce and Devin Sprague, will be supported by: Tom and Lori Spruce, Cody’s parents, Tammy Sprague, Devin’s mother, and Robyn Pride of Bangor. They have all volunteered to work the two-day event.
The ride is Graceland’s fourth, but the first for the others, and they would appreciate your help.
To compete, the adults need to raise $250 each, and the youngsters $100 each.
They’ve been contacting relatives and friends and writing letters, but they hope you too will contribute to the effort.
“I like the event because it is for the Maine Chapter of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society,” Graceland said.

The opening of “Damn Yankees” at 8 p.m. Thursday, July 31, at Lakewood Theatre in Madison also includes a “Salute to America’s Heroes: Armed Services.”
The program is dedicated to late Marine Corps Maj. Jay Aubin of Skowhegan, one of the first casualties of Operation Iraqi Freedom.
All active members of the U.S. armed services are invited to attend free of charge with proper military identification.
Military spouses and family members are offered a reduced admission of $17 each.

The annual Pine Hill Ladies Golf Association Breast Cancer Tournament begins with two shotgun starts, at 7:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 3, at the golf course in Brewer.
Dedicated to the late Mary Jo Sekera in honor of her work with the American Cancer Society, proceeds will benefit the ACS Relay for Life.
A barbecue lunch will be served from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., and is included in the $40 per person entry fee.

The event includes a silent auction that begins opening day and ends at 3 p.m. closing day. All proceeds from the silent auction benefit George Stevens Academy.

The artistic achievements and life of late Blue Hill resident Francis “Frank” Hamabe will be celebrated from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 3, at the Blue Hill Public Library.
