An Eddington man was summoned early Thursday after police found him in possession of Viagra.
Officer Shawn Green’s report said he stopped a car on Interstate 395 just after midnight because it had a broken taillight cover.
Green said the driver, Frederick Platt, 33, of Eddington, consented to a search of his car, saying he had nothing illegal.
Green said he found a single Viagra pill in Platt’s wallet; Platt allegedly told Green he had received the pill from a friend downtown, but gave no name.
Green summoned Platt for unlawful possession of a Schedule Z drug.
Employees at a Bangor convenience store helped police catch a drunken driver early Thursday morning.
According to Bangor police Officer Brandon Vafiades, employees at Airport On The Run on Union Street called at about 3 a.m. saying two people smelling of alcohol had come into the store asking for a phone to call a tow truck for a car off the road on Finson Road.
Vafiades said he found the wrecker on a dirt road off Finson Road. He said the car was stuck in the grass at the bottom of a steep grade; a 12-pack of Budweiser was in the back seat.
Vafiades said he spoke to the car’s driver, Rex Stinson, 43, of Bangor, who smelled of alcohol. Vafiades wrote in his report that Stinson at first denied drinking, but later admitted having two beers.
Vafiades said he took Stinson in his cruiser back out to Finson Road, explaining he was not yet under arrest but that the paved road would be a fairer place to administer field sobriety tests. Nevertheless, Stinson performed poorly.
Vafiades arrested Stinson and charged him with operating while under the influence.
