BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Katy MacDonald pitched a one-hit shutout with five strikeouts and allowed only one ball out of the infield as Bangor won its first game 2-0 over Indiana in the double-elimination, ages 14-under ASA national softball tournament.

Courtney Stevenson reached on an error in the sixth, scoring Ilyse Angst and Erica Tweedie. Alex Fahey and MacDonald had a single apiece for Bangor, which advances to play Alabama today at 9 a.m.

Augusta West 7, Falmouth 3

At Knox, Mustafa Hassenzada knocked a solo homer in the third inning as Augusta West won the state title, advancing to the East Regional tournament in Bristol, Conn.

Tyler Boutin had a two-run single for the winners. Pat Norwood and Jacob Rutt each had an RBI single.

Will White hit a solo homer for Falmouth.
