BINGHAMTON, N.Y. – Solid pitching helped the Binghamton Mets sweep a doubleheader against the Portland Sea Dogs Friday night in Eastern League action.

In the first game Justin Huber singled home two runs in the bottom of the sixth inning as the Mets beat the Sea Dogs 4-2.

Matt Peterson (1-1) earned his first Double-A win, allowing two runs over six innings, one earned.

After Sea Dog catcher Kelly Shoppach hit a two-run single to tie it up in the third inning, Peterson retired the final eleven batters he faced for Binghamton (53-60).

Royce Ring pitched the seventh inning to earn his sixth save. Josh Stevens (10-6) allowed all four runs for Portland (59-51).

In game two Mets pitchers Joey Cole and PJ Bevis combined on a one-hit shutout as the Mets completed the sweep 2-0.

Ron Acuna threw out a runner at the plate, his fourth assist in the last five games.

The Sea Dogs meet the Mets again tonight at 7 p.m. in Binghamton.
