ORONO – Frustration, exasperation, embarrassment.

Those three words pretty much sum up the major feelings roiling around inside the throbbing head of Bangor Lumberjacks manager Kash Beauchamp after Sunday’s game.

Brockton touched up Bangor pitching for 15 hits en route to a 10-5 victory in the opener of a four-game series at Mahaney Diamond. The loss came on the heels of a 16-4 disaster Saturday night in Quebec City.

“I’m very frustrated and disappointed and I’m getting tired of looking at it,” said Beauchamp, who was already upset over his stepfather’s death Saturday night. “I don’t think a lot of guys right now give a rat’s [rear end]. I do give a rat’s [behind] and I will continue to give a rat’s [rear end].

“I’ve had a bad day today and I came out hoping getting on the field would help me, but I feel twice as bad as before I went on the field.”

The fans probably didn’t feel that much better after watching a couple of plays in which players – either mistakenly or lackadaisically – misplay hits, turning singles into doubles or doubles into triples.

“It’s not just me. I mean, the fans deserve better and they deserve to know what’s going on,” Beauchamp said.

Bangor falls to 9-12 and fourth place in the Northeast League’s north division while the Rox improve to 11-10.

Australian Craig Lewis led the Brockton barrage with a two-run triple and a two-run single.

“That was a season high for me. Actually, I’m rather happy with that because I’ve been getting a lot of untimely hits lately when runners weren’t in scoring position,” Lewis said. “It helps when you’re able to get a couple runs early because then you can afford to take some chances and be more aggressive on the bases.”

Bangor starting pitcher Jerry Long gave up eight hits and three walks in 3 2/3 innings.

“Long’s actually thrown really well against us in the past. I think he had a bit of trouble getting his offspeed stuff over for a strike,” Lewis said.

Brockton broke onto the scoreboard with three runs in the second. Melvin Rosario led off with a single, and after a fielder’s choice grounder, Abner Arroyo walked. No. 9 hitter Bobby Brown then hit a two-run double to right.

The Rox added two more runs – both with two outs – in the third. Mike Torres singled, Rosario walked, and Craig Lewis flared one to right that Lorenzo de la Cruz had trouble catching up with before Lewis wound up with a two-run triple.

Bangor scored after Schuyler Doakes drew a two-out walk and stole second in the third. Brad Hargreaves’ single to right center scored him, but Brockton got it back and then some in the fourth. Arroyo led off with a double, Brown singled, and – two outs later – Saul Bustos singled home Arroyo. A walk to Torres sent Long to the showers, but reliever Santiago Henry fared no better as Rosario greeted him with a two-run double down the right field line.

Juan LeBron led off the bottom of the fourth with a 350-foot homer to left. The Lumberjacks halved Brockton’s lead to 8-4 with two in the sixth. Three straight one-out singles by LeBron, de la Cruz and Mikaela Dworken loaded the bases. A fielder’s choice grounder that Todd Brock beat out at first to avoid a double play scored LeBron and an errant throw by catcher Melvin Rosario on Brock’s steal of second scored de la Cruz.

Brockton added a pair of runs in the eighth courtesy of a two-out, bases-loaded single from Lewis to shallow center.

Saturday night, a six-run second inning propelled the Capitales to the win and helped them take three of four.

Ryan Bordenick (3-for-5, double, RBI, three runs) led Quebec offensively and Jeff Harris pitched three-hit ball for seven innings to limit Bangor to one run and get the win.

Dworken hit a three-run home run in the eighth for Bangor. LeBron had a double and a single. All-star game winner Kevin Pincavitch (6-3) lasted two innings and took the loss.
