Routine police stop nets drug charges

A routine stop by Veazie police Friday morning resulted in two arrests for possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.

The driver of the car, Shawn Woodbury, 24, of Brewer, was out on bail after violating a protection order requested by his wife when Cpl. Andrew Whitehouse of the Veazie Police Department pulled him over at 10:15 a.m. on Mount Hope Avenue for missing a front license plate. Upon running a check of Woodbury’s license, Whitehouse said, he discovered the order and arrested Woodbury because his wife was in the car with him. The woman claimed she planned to have the order dismissed after Woodbury offered her a ride to get her car fixed, Whitehouse said. Woodbury also was charged for violating the conditions of his bail.

One of Woodbury’s passengers, Whitney Cross, 40, of Brewer, was arrested after a license check revealed a warrant for his arrest in Washington County for operating after suspension of his license, Whitehouse said.

Another passenger in the car, April Hudson, 24, of Veazie, was summoned for possession of a usable amount of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia after a search of the vehicle, Whitehouse said.
