As a longtime supporter of former Gov. Angus King, I have to wonder what has happened to him since he left office. First he bought a luxury motor home to tour the country. Along the way he grew a beard. Then, as if to flaunt himself and his wealth, he e-mailed his comments back to us poor people who supported him in his campaign for office.
I would like a trip like that. He also toured Las Vegas. If I were one who disliked casinos so much, I would have skirted that sick, sinful city. His e-mail should have been an apology for the mess he left the state in. His trip was timely in that respect.
On a trip to visit family in Connecticut, I had a choice one night to attend a concert in Hartford, where tickets cost $100 each, or go to the casino. I opted to use my entertainment money to go to the casino. We all had a wonderful evening and the experience will be repeated, even if I have to go out of state to do it.
We Mainers have minds of our own. I lost $20 playing the slots and my wife won $50. There were no signs to insult my judgment and no one called me a sucker.
Sorry governor, you are way out of line on this one.
