The annual Sprague-Call-Williams family reunion will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 23, at the home of Linda and Fred Wallace at Crawford Lake. Potluck dinner is at noon. Call 454-2518 for information.

ST. FRANCIS – At least since 1900, descendants of Absalom Smith Dow and wife Lorena (Drew) Dow have gathering occasionally in the Fort Kent area.

The current reunion, scheduled for 9 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 9, at the Old Customs House in St. Francis, continues a tradition of more than 30 years in an attempt to keep in touch with relatives from New England and beyond.

Thousands of Dow descendants go back to Thomas Dow, who settled in Newbury, Mass., in 1639 and married Dorcas Kimball.

The event will include activities for children, a silent auction, history table, musical offerings, a delectable potluck lunch, and a day full of remembering and visiting.

Those who think they may be relatives of the Dow family or who want information may e-mail Jean Gibson at jdg@sjv.net or write her at 79 Main St., St. Francis 04774.
