A Millinocket man was summoned after suffering injuries in a coffee-related truck crash Tuesday afternoon.
Bangor police Officer Steve Jordan said David Cyr, 37, told him he was driving on Outer Ohio Street at about 4:15 p.m. when the four cups of coffee he was carrying spilled onto his lap. Cyr’s 1989 Chevrolet pickup truck veered across the oncoming lane, off the road and into a utility pole, severing it.
Jordan said the truck had $4,000 in damage. He found four coffee cups scattered around the cab, the floor was wet, and there was a strong odor of coffee.
Jordan said Bangor Fire Department personnel took Cyr to the hospital for a cut on his head. Jordan later went to the hospital to summon Cyr for operating after suspension. Jordan said Cyr had received a similar summons Monday evening, and had also pleaded guilty to another OAS charge earlier Monday.
A Bangor woman received a bump on the head Wednesday after her parked car rolled down a hill, across the street and crashed into a bank building.
Bangor police Officer Myron Warner said Linda Bezanker’s car knocked over a metal signpost before crossing Hancock Street. The car had been parked in a lot at the corner of Broadway and Hancock Streets, and ended up lodged against the United Kingfield Bank on Exchange Street.
Bezanker said she fell while trying to get into the backward-rolling car to stop it.
Bangor police seized marijuana and equipment from a pickup truck early Wednesday.
Officer William Lawrence reported that a Penobscot County Sheriff’s Department employee had notified Bangor police at about half-past midnight that someone was apparently using drugs in a pickup parked in the Hammond Street parking garage.
Lawrence spoke to a man sitting in the truck, and then searched the cab. He said he found a small bag of marijuana, two bags of seeds, scales and a pipe with residue in it. The man in the cab was not charged.
