AKRON, Ohio – Two Maine youths who participated in local Soap Box Derby qualifying events will get their chance to compete at historic Derby Downs on Saturday, Aug. 9, during the first National Super Kids Classic.
Jamie Trites of Jefferson and Jaron Secord of Bangor qualified by being designated champions of their respective Soap Box Derby races for children with special needs.
The National Super Kids Classic is a Soap Box Derby with a twist: Each drivers will be assisted by veteran Soap Box Derby drivers who will act as “co-pilots” in specially designed cars.
