Waldoboro accident leaves 1 dead, 1 hurt

WALDOBORO – A Rockland man was killed early Sunday morning in a head-on crash that also injured a Connecticut man.

Kriston Kinney, 42, died at the scene of a two-car collision on U.S. Route 1, according to a press release issued by the Waldoboro Police Department through Lincoln County Communications Center.

Gregory Dexter, 67, of Bridgeport, Conn., was taken by ambulance to Miles Memorial Hospital in Damariscotta after the 5:20 a.m. crash, according to the press release.

On Sunday, a hospital official would not confirm whether Dexter was a patient there.

The cause of the accident is still under investigation, but preliminary findings at the scene indicated that Kinney’s vehicle suddenly swerved into the path of Dexter’s car, which was traveling north at the time of the accident.

The two men were the only persons involved in the accident.
