WEST GARDINER – A West Gardiner woman was killed Monday when her car crashed into a tree on Route 126.

Dorothy Soucy, 74, was traveling west when she apparently veered to the left, crossed the eastbound lane, drove into a ditch and struck the tree head-on, state police said.

“There was no reconstruction that could be done, but we don’t believe there was excessive speed involved,” Trooper Ryan Brockway told the Kennebec Journal. “We are suspecting she either fell asleep or had a medical issue.”
