Firetruck damaged in Dover-Foxcroft

DOVER-FOXCROFT – About $5,000 damage was done to a Dover-Foxcroft pumper truck recently when a water gun on top of the vehicle struck a door as the truck was being backed into the fire station.

Town Manager Owen Pratt called the incident a “freak accident” and said it was not the fault of the driver. Pratt said Monday he was standing nearby and witnessed the occurrence.

He said the driver was backing the vehicle cautiously into the garage and was being guided by another firefighter when a water gun on top of the truck caught an overhead door. He said the gun and some piping on the firetruck was damaged, but the door to the station was not.

The truck is now at an Island Falls garage where it is being repaired. Pratt expects the vehicle will be back in service in a couple of weeks.
