BUCKSPORT – A broken power line Tuesday left about 3,500 residents without power for almost three hours.

The line, located between the Bucksport substation and the River Road (Route 15), came down at about 11 a.m., knocking out power to sections of Bucksport, Orland, Castine and Penobscot, according to Gail Rice, a spokeswoman for Central Maine Power.

The break was located on a right of way, and CMP had to bring in special equipment to make the repair, Rice said. Power was restored by 1:45 p.m.

As of Tuesday afternoon, CMP crews had not determined what had caused the line to break.
