BANGOR – Darling’s Honda of Bangor has donated a 2003 Honda Civic to United Technology Center. The school will use the car as an instructional aid in the automotive technology program.
As part of an ongoing effort to maintain its capability in automotive technology, American Honda and its Honda and Acura dealerships provide training resources to outstanding automotive technology programs in high schools, community colleges and vocational schools. Through these efforts, American Honda and its dealers have established many partnerships with local automotive technology programs.
Officials from Darling’s Honda of Bangor said they see the car donation program as an opportunity to ensure that qualified technicians will be available for hire in the future.
“We’re fully committed to helping schools improve their auto technology programs,” said Brian Moore, American Honda’s industry education coordinator. “We are particularly pleased to assist schools that are providing employees for our dealerships. We see it as good for the school, good for Honda and best of all, good for the kids in the program.”
American Honda’s industry education department provides approximately 300 cars each year for donation to secondary and post-secondary schools throughout the country.
