HERMON – Ellsworth’s Andy Saunders ran away from the rest of the field Saturday night to win the 50-lap feature race in the third round of the CAM II Racing Fuels Pro Stock series at Speedway 95.

The victory clinched the series title for Saunders and helped him wrap up the season points championship.

Not even a caution flag with three laps to go could slow him as Saunders never looked back. Don Alexander Jr. of Glenburn finished second while Scott Alexander of Orrington was third. Winterport’s Patrick Thibodeau and Hudson’s Dean Smart rounded out the top five in fourth and fifth, respectively.

Beech Ridge Speedway

At Beech Ridge Motor Speedway in Scarborough, Dan McKeage of Gorham led the front runners by less than a car length and claimed first in the Pro Series event. He was followed by Rick Frenette and Bobby Babb.

In the Sport Series, Chris Warming of Hollis claimed the win.

At Unity Raceway, Bangor’s Gary Smith passed race-long leader Bub Raven with two laps to go to win his first Pro Stock event of the season.

Steve Nelson finished after Raven for third place.

At Wiscasset Raceway, 17-year-old Katie Hagar of Nobleboro recorded her second win in two races when she won the New England Allison Legacy Series.

The Strong Chevy Modifieds feature was won by Steve Reno of West Bath while Dale Chadbourne of Woodwich and Allen Moeller of Dresden took second and third, respectively.

At Winterport Dragway Sunday, Randy Whitcomb of Belmont won the third annual Jeff Paluga Memorial King of Street Race.

Whitcomb finished ahead of runner-up John Sloan of Topsham and Mark Norwood of Bar Harbor. Hermon’s Clayton White was fourth.
